Municipal Savings Bank
Local name: Městská spořitelna
The Municipal Bank of Savings is an Art Nouveau historic building standing in the center of Karlovy Vary. It was built at the beginning of the 20th century. Above the entrance a copper dome is visible. The entrance is richly decorated with Art Nouveau floral ornaments.
The building was erected as part of the construction project for public buildings in Karlovy Vary. It was designed by local architect Otto Stainl. It is a corner building with a facade decorated with rustication. The entrance is created by a projection protruding from the front of the building. In the lower part there is a spacious, semi-circular entrance. It is surrounded by decorated pillars. Above, the decorations become more and more discreet and turn into light floral decorations.
Inside, there is an Art Nouveau staircase with a metal balustrade and the main banking hall vaulted and decorated with floral motifs. On the floor you can see the original floors.
