Market Colonnade
Local name: Tržní Kolonáda
The Market Colonnade (Tržní kolonáda) in Karlovy Vary is a richly decorated wooden building, a faithful copy of a structure built in the Swiss style in the 1880s. There are three sources here: Charles IV (64 ° C), Lower Castle (55 ° C) and Targowe (62 ° C).
Two well-known architects from Vienna - Ferdinand Fellner and Hermann Helmer - were responsible for the design of the original colonnade. The work was supervised by an outstanding Viennese carpenter master - Oesterreicher. Earlier in this place was the old town hall.
There is a legend associated with the source "Karol IV" according to which the water flowing from it allowed to heal the sick leg of the Czech king. Word of her wonderful properties spread quickly throughout the kingdom. A modest gazebo was built above the source, a small promenade led to it.
