The regional museum in Decin is housed in the building of the former hunting palace of the Thun family - Hohenstein. Three thematic exhibitions can be viewed here. The first and largest is dedicated to sailing on the Elbe over the centuries, the second concerns archaeological finds in Marianske Lazne, the third presents birds living in the region.
Exhibitions were opened in 2015 after a break of several years caused by the renovation of the building. They are arranged in a modern way. They use light and sound to create the right atmosphere and allow visitors to empathize with the narrative climate. The exhibition dedicated to sailing presents models of boats and ships, tools used in transport, equipment for employees, models of channels, locks and all engineering devices found on the river.
The archeological exhibition focuses on excavations carried out in the eighties of the twentieth century in Marianske Lazne. There are, among others, dishes, jewelry and weapons. At the ornithological exhibition, the birds are shown in specially highlighted display cases. You can also hear the sounds of individual species.
