Fotoatelier Seidel Museum
Local name: Muzeum Fotoatelier Seidel
The Photo Theater by Seidel is a museum of photography dedicated to the figures of Józef and Franciszek Seidel, called "Photographers of Šumava". The exhibition shows their studio and photos of Český Krumlov and the surrounding villages from the 1880s to the mid-20th century.
The Seidel studio was opened to visitors in 2008. It has a collection of original cameras, negatives and atelier equipment from the turn of the century. The Seidids began photographing around Krumlov in the 1880s. The oldest photos shown here come from this time. The last ones document the times right after the end of World War II. With the change in technique, used cameras and other equipment also changed. These changes can be traced at the exhibition. There are also studio equipment, charts, documents and personal souvenirs of photographers.
