Przemyslaw Otakar II Square
Local name: Náměstí Přemysla Otakara II
Przemysław Otokar II Square is the central square in the historical center of České Budějovice. Currently named in honor of the city's founder, Czech King Przemysł II Ottokar of the Przemyślid dynasty. With an area of 1.7 ha, it is the second largest square in the Czech Republic after the square in Vysoké Mýtě.
The most important attractions on the square include: Bludný kámen, Samson Fountain and Town Hall. In the south-eastern part of the square there is a round ceramic walkway called by the residents of the city "Bludný kámen". According to legend, a 30 cm stone with a cross was just below the corner. In 1478, ten young men allegedly executed were suspected of murdering a rebel. At the center of the square is the Samson Fountain, built in the 1820s. In the southern corner of the west side of the market stands the Town Hall, which during its reconstruction acquired its current form in the years 1684-1747.
