Gallery of Contemporary Art

The Gallery of contemporary art and architecture in Ceske Budejovice is an institution that organizes temporary exhibitions devoted to various aspects of contemporary art. It presents works of Czech and other artists from other Central European countries.

The gallery is located in the so-called Czech House of Art. Until 1998, it was an ordinary regional gallery without much success. Then its director became Michal Škoda, who created here one of the most important centers of contemporary art in the country. Regular exhibitions covering painting, graphics, sculpture, artistic craftsmanship, design, architecture and multimedia installations are quickly becoming nationwide events. The gallery is also focused on the popularization of art and artistic education. Meetings with artists, concerts, performances, as well as workshops for children and youth are organized.
