The City Museum in Zagreb gathered many valuable objects related to the history of the city. There are exhibits from prehistoric times, from the Roman Empire, as well as modern items showing the economic and political situation of the region. Visitors will see maps, coats of arms, flags, as well as military uniforms and paintings.
The museum was founded in 1907 on the initiative of the Croatian Dragon Brothers association (Braća hrvatskoga zmaja). Its seat is a historic monastery complex built in the mid-seventeenth century. The collections were ordered in chronological order.
The collection is divided into five sections, such as: "Prehistoric archaeological collections" and "Medieval archaeological collections". The museum deals with the conservation of monuments, also organizes lectures and workshops for experts.
