The Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Zagreb (Cathedral of Uznesenja Blažene Djevice Marije and svetih Stjepan and Ladislav) represents the neo-Gothic style, the most characteristic architectural element are two over 100-meter towers designed by the Austrian architect Hermann Bollé. The cathedral was entered in the register of monuments.
The furnishings and all decorations that can be admired inside the church come from the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. Features of Baroque and Neo-Gothic art can be seen here. An important monument is the collection of liturgical vessels and vestments.
The first temple was erected in this place already in the 11th century, it was a Romanesque style building, but it was completely destroyed in the 13th century, during the invasion of a Mongol army unit on the city.
