Dolac in Zagreb is a market square popular with locals and tourists. On traditional stalls you can buy fresh fruit and vegetables from nearby farms, as well as flowers and Croatian delicacies. Licitari, or glazed heart-shaped cookies, whose production process has been inscribed on UNESCO's "Representative List of the Intangible Heritage of Humanity" are very popular.
In the roofed part of the market, sellers offer fresh fish as well as cheese and cream made by housewives from the region. A characteristic element of the market square are red umbrellas that provide shade on hot days. It is worth paying attention to the pattern decorating them, which refers to the old tradition.
Šestinski kišobran is the work of Zagreb artisans. Umbrellas were formerly made of red cotton, which was decorated with multi-colored stripes painted along the edges.
