The Mirogoj Cemetery (Groblje Mirogoj) in Zagreb was founded in the 19th century, it is a multi-faith cemetery. Its area covers over 72 hectares, which makes it the largest cemetery in Croatia. Many Croatian personalities rested here, including writer Milan Begović, journalist Bruno Bušić, table tennis player Žarko Dolinar and composer Franjo Dugan.
Mirogoj was built on a plot of land, which was given for this purpose by the Croatian poet, journalist and Slavist - Ljudevita Gaja. All the most important buildings were built according to the designs of the famous architect Hermann Bollé.
Valuable monuments have been placed among the tombstones, including: Monument to the victims of the First World War, Monument to Yugoslav folk heroes, Monument to Croatian national guards.
