The city museum in Bjelovar is located in the city center at Eugen Kvaternik square. It plays the role of a kind of "institute of memory", gathering, storing and presenting the most important souvenirs of the city and its inhabitants. The exhibition is divided into six sections: Archaeological, Ethnological, Historical, Culture History Department, Gallery and Library. You can see here, among others posters, paintings, old coins and everyday objects.
The initiator of the creation of the Museum in Bjelovar was Rade Kovač. It was opened in 1949. It is now in an old government building belonging to the city, built in 1832. Conservation workshops, classical and popular music concerts, theater performances, folklore shows, book presentations, lectures and other artistic and cultural events take place here.
