Museum Beethoven Pasqualati House

Local name: Wien Museum Beethoven Pasqualatihaus

Wien Museum Beethoven Pasqualatihaus is a museum dedicated to the outstanding composer and pianist Ludwig van Beethoven. The museum is located in a flat on the fourth floor, where a German virtuoso once lived for eight years during his thirty-five years in Vienna.

It was here that he worked, among others, on the 4th, 5th, 7th and 8th symphony and above all on his opera "Fidelio". In addition to numerous documents illustrating Beethoven's life and work, there is also the famous portrait of Beethoven by Willibrord Joseph Mähler from 1804-05 and many personal items belonging to the composer.

The name of the house, "Pasqualatihaus", was given in honor of its owner Josef Benedikt Baron Pasqualati. The building was built in the 18th century and is located on Mölker Bastei, part of the remains of ancient city fortifications.
