The castle of Petreli is located in Petrelë in central Albania, at an altitude of 390 m above sea level. The fortress towering over the village lies on a rocky hill, and its history dates back to the 6th century AD. The current castle in the shape of a triangle dates from the fifteenth century and was an important part of the defense system of Albania. The stronghold, open to visitors, has been inscribed on the list of cultural monuments in the country.
The citadel, located about 15 kilometers from Tirana, is considered one of the most interesting tourist attractions in and around the Albanian capital. It is a viewpoint from which you can admire the Erzen River, as well as hills, olive groves, the surrounding mountains and Tirana in the distance.
The climb to the top of the castle hill lasts about 10 minutes. It is worth climbing the building to admire the wooden structure, beautiful views, as well as many authentic objects that have survived to our times.
