Cave of Pëllumbas

Local name: Shpella e Pëllumbasit

Pellumbas Cave is located in central Albania and is one of the six karst caves existing in Europe. The tourist attraction is located about 20 kilometers from the center of the Albania capital of Tirana, in the vicinity of Skorana Gorge, in the village of Pellumbas. The cave, lying about 500 meters on the Adriatic Sea is the destination of tourists who want to climb the mountains and visit one of the most beautiful caves in the country.

The 360-meter long Pellumbas Cave is located within the borders of the Dajti National Park. Due to its historical value, it was recognized by the Ministry of the Environment as a natural monument of national and international importance. The karst cave in the village of Pellumbas is considered a heritage of the Paleolithic period and remains of ancient culture. The cave, now called the house of bats, was in the past the place where the extinct cave bear lived.

To visit the Pellumbas Cave, it is worth using the services of local guides. An independent walk is possible thanks to a special reflective tape that determines the exact route. Beautiful views and uninterrupted nature attracts tourists to this place.
