Čapljina is a town on the Neretva River, which is an excellent base for exploring the surrounding attractions, including the Hutovo Blato nature reserve and the beautifully situated old town of Pocitelj.
Although the city itself is primarily a service and industrial city and is devoid of important monuments, its surroundings are extremely attractive for tourists. The Hutovo Blato nature reserve, the most important bird refuge in the Balkans and the center of ornithological tourism, is nearby. It is also close from here to the magnificent Kravica Waterfalls, which delight with views and encourage swimming. After the Neretva River flowing through the city, you can go on the Kemalios Safari Adventure Boat.
There are many interesting sights in the vicinity of Čapljina. Here are the ruins of Mogorjelo and Gabela, two Roman villas from the 1st century AD. You can also visit the historic town of Pocitelj lying on a mountain slope descending into the Neretva valley. The Pocitelj Tower towering above it, as well as numerous mosques and stone houses are among the most important attractions of the Čapljina area.
