Speke Hall, Garden
Speke Hall is a house from the first half of the 16th century, combining architectural styles from different eras. The Great Hall in the Tudor style operates next to a fully equipped Victorian kitchen, you can also see Jacobin plasters and intricately carved furniture. The characteristic half-timbered wall construction attracts attention. The house is open to the public. There is also a shop, restaurant and café.
The house is surrounded by a garden that dates back to the mid-nineteenth century. Many flowers grow in it, including roses and tulips. In turn, in the courtyard in front of the main building you can see two yews, called Adam and Eve, probably planted in the 16th or 17th century.
One of the episodes of Most Haunted was shot at Speke Hall, a program about ghostly haunted places. Legends say about the White Lady who appears at home after she killed her child out of despair and committed suicide herself. According to one version, she did so when her husband lost all their property, according to another because of his love affairs.
