Norwich Market
Norwich Market is a market consisting of about 200 stands and located in the city center. It is the largest open air market in the country and one of the oldest - it has been operating continuously for over 900 years. Here you can find a wide range of products and services sold, from children's clothing and toys, through household items to flowers. Food products, mainly local, such as meat, bread, jams and cheese are sold at numerous stands.
The market was founded in the 11th century and replaced older, nearby markets. It was aimed at supplying Norman merchants and settlers in this area after the Normans conquered England. In the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, Norwich was a popular tourist destination and commercial city. Buildings around the market have developed into luxury stores and taverns. The eastern part of the market, known as the Gentlemen's Route, was particularly fashionable.
