Lincolnshire Wolds AONB

Lincolnshire Wolds is the name for a series of hills located in Lincolnshire. The highest point is located at an altitude of 168 meters above sea level, and the entire area is an area of 560 square kilometers. In 1973, the Lincolnshire Wolds were designated as Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty - their natural beauty and great value for the English landscape were highlighted.

The Lincolnshire hills lead almost parallel to the North Sea coast. They include low hills and steep valleys based on limestone and sandstone rock from the Cretaceous period. The beauty of these open valleys was shaped already during the last glaciation. Among the hills is also the Red Hill nature reserve, which attracts visitors with its characteristic red soil color.

Tourists heading to Lincolnshire Wolds also have vantage points on the top of the hills - from here we will see all the larger structures in the north and east of the county, as well as the landscapes of flat peat bogs and salt marshes Lindsey and Holland.
