Alexander Fleming Museum

The Alexander Fleming Laboratory is a museum housed in the St Mary's Hospital building. It was here in 1928 that the scientist discovered penicillin, which revolutionized modern medicine, and provided him with the Nobel Prize. The museum has the form of a laboratory recreated to the state in which Fleming made his discovery, i.e. chaos and chaos reigns in it. In addition, you can see exhibitions and films about the scientist and his achievements.

Alexander Fleming's laboratory was honored by the American Chemical Society and the Royal Society of Chemistry. It also received the award as the National Millennium Treasure.

The museum has created an educational program under which its employees visit schools and other interested groups. During the meetings, they present the figure and achievements of Fleming, the history of medicine and nursing, and the beginnings of the National Healthcare Service.
