BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir
Baps Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, also known as Neasden Temple, is a temple complex located near the new Wembley Stadium. Its main part is occupied by the mandir, or traditional Hindu temple. It is made of hand-hewn marble and sandstone. It also houses the "Hawela" Cultural Center, a café and a gift shop. Visitors can also view the permanent exhibition "Understanding Hinduism". This is the largest Hindu temple located outside of India.
Neasden Temple is called the first fully authentic Hindu temple in Great Britain. Others are located in old buildings, adapted only to their needs. The first one was built from scratch using traditional methods and materials. Used among others 2,000 tons of Italian marble, which was first sculpted in India by over 1,500 sculptors. Construction of the temple lasted from 1990 to 1995.
