Kenilworth Castle and Elizabethan Garden
Medieval Kenilworth Castle one of the most famous castles in Great Britain. Renovated and restored, it encourages visitors to learn about their interesting history, because the castle served as both a military fortress or an apartment building for the nobility, but also as a place of the round table meeting in 1279.
The foundation of Kenilworth Castle dates back to 1120, when King Henry I gave his chamberlain and treasurer a large piece of land (then about 1600 hectares). Geoffrey de Clinton, because we are talking about him, created in this area a beautiful castle complex with a delightful Elizabethan garden. Shortly after his death, however, the castle was again in the hands of the royal dynasty and since then it has changed and expanded, attracting visitors.
Today, Kenilworth functions as a museum and monument, especially associated with the Tudor dynasty. Especially restored in 2009, the Elizabethan garden, previously forgotten for almost 400 years.
