High Weald
High Weald AONB (Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty) Flimwell is a landscape park with an area of 1461 square kilometers. It consists of forest areas, small irregular fields and scattered rural farms. Hilly, dotted with single and occurring in larger clusters of sandstone rocks, the area is crossed by roads that remember the Middle Ages. It is an excellent area for hiking and cycling trips, whose routes lead to numerous nature reserves.
The total length of walking and cycling routes in High Weald is 2395 km. Among them are trails specially dedicated to hiking, cross-country runs and bicycle routes. In each category, various levels of difficulty are foreseen: from very demanding, long, typically patch routes, to comfortable walking routes, dedicated to families with children for weekend trips. The most popular trails do not bypass numerous pubs, tea rooms and restaurants in this area.
Following educational paths, you can discover the richness of fauna and flora (birds are especially numerous - both nesting and fleeting), admire the landscapes (preserved in many places in virtually unchanged form since the Middle Ages), learn about 18th-century rural buildings (e.g. extremely rare hop-drying buildings or historic smokehouse), climb the rocks or take advantage of the horse rides offer.
