Leeds Castle
Leeds Castle is a stronghold from the 12th century, now fully open to the public. You can see richly decorated interiors with antique furniture and works of art. You can find here a collection of over 130 precious dog collars, the oldest of which dates back to the 15th century. The castle houses the Center of Birds of Prey, where you can participate in feeding and caring for them, or simply watch shows. In the garden, a labyrinth and a grotto are waiting to be overcome.
Leeds Castle was the favorite residence of King Edward I and his wife Eleonora of Castile. It was during their reign in the 13th century that the building underwent expansion and introduced a number of improvements and modernizations. In honor of the royal wife, she gained the nickname Gloriette. In 1519 Henry VIII made further changes to arrange a castle for Katarzyna Aragon. Among the collected works of art there is a painting from that period, which shows the meeting of Henry with the King of France Francis I.
