Hastings Pier
Hastings Pier is a pier built in 1872. After a thorough reconstruction and renovation, it was reopened in 2016. There is a restaurant, cafe and viewing platform. The pavilion houses the Memories Room and the Birch Room educational center. It is a place presenting the history of the pier using interactive touch screens and an exhibition of photos, postcards and posters.
The pier experienced a period of splendor and greatest popularity in the 1930s. In turn, in the sixties it became a popular place where concerts were played. In 1990, it was severely damaged during a storm, and twenty years later it was almost completely burned in a fire. Hastings Pier Charity oversaw the project for its reconstruction, and the rebuilt pier won the architectural Stirling Prize 2017.
