Shropshire Hills AONB
Shropshire Hills, located in the so-called Welsh Marchies, were included in the AONB, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is an area of over 800 km2 covered by hills, meadows and forests, which are crossed by four rivers. It runs many routes for hiking, cycling and horse riding. You can also practice paragliding, canoeing and climbing.
Within the hills lies Stokesey Castle, which dates from the late 13th century and has been preserved to this day almost intact. It is open to the public, and 17th-century wooden reliefs attract particular attention.
In the hills you can find many species of birds, including peregrine falcons, lapwings, flycatchers and owls. Badgers and foxes also live here. In turn, among the ponds, newts can be found.
