Royal Air Force Museum
The Royal Air Force Museum is dedicated to the history of aviation and the British Air Force. In addition to the Cosford branch, it also has a second branch in London. There is an extensive British Airways collection and a national collection dedicated to the Cold War. In addition, you can see the exhibition of aircraft engines and dozens of aircraft, including several models of Avro, Bristol and Hawker. There is also a second prototype of the BAC TSR-2 aircraft.
Initially, the museum only had a branch in London. It was officially opened in 1972 by Queen Elizabeth II. At that time, the collection had only twenty-seven aircraft. As the collection grew, a second facility was opened, this time at the Royal Armed Forces station in Cosford. In 1980 it was made available to visitors. In 2002, the RAF Museum Conservation Center in Cardington was also moved to the museum.
