Blackpool Zoo
Blackpool Zoo. It was opened in 1972 and is now home to 1,500 animals. It covers an area of 13 hectares. We find here many rare species, including the only specimens of Magellanic penguins from South America in Great Britain.
Interestingly, before the zoo was opened, there were several facilities important for Great Britain, including the airport from which the famous pilot Amy Johnson was flying. Today, the Blackpool Zoo performs an important environmental function: the main goal of the zoo is to protect endangered species and ensure the future of many that would otherwise die.
The Blackpool Zoo boasts several interesting attractions, including the Gorilla Mountain award in 2000, the unique Safari with Dinosaurs opened in 2003 or the Children's Farm for children, where we can see and even touch animals such as sheep, ferrets up close , giant rabbits, alpacas and more.
