Forest of Bowland

Forest of Bowland, also called Bowland Fells covers heath covered hills. It was included in the legally protected "Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty" (AONB). There are many walking and cycling paths in the Forest of Bowland. You can go mountain biking, climbing and bird watching. It is also a popular area for star observation - according to Guardian, it is among the top 20 in the country thanks to the extremely dark night sky.

Due to the presence of two rare birds of prey - the marsh harrier and the black dragon - a nature reserve was created in Bowland Fells. About 13% of this area was additionally recognized as "Area of particular importance for science".
There are many hotels, guesthouses and private lodgings throughout the Forest of Bowland. There are also hostels and campsites here.
