Ballintoy is a small village on the northern coast of Northern Ireland. It is known as one of the locations of the second season of Game of Thrones and its biggest attraction is the Carrick-a-Rede Bridge.
The main buildings of the village are located about a kilometer from the sea. It consists of low, stone houses with a traditional appearance. Below, right by the sea, there is the natural Ballintoy harbor. To this day, it is used by local fishermen to moor their boats. The town's popularity grew when it appeared in the second season of Game of Thrones as Lordsport on Pyke Island in 2011.
Although today many tourists come to Ballintoy due to its connection with the Game of Thrones series, the Carrick-a-Rede suspension bridge has been its main attraction for years. It connects the mainland with a small offshore island. According to reports, the first hanging structure was built here in the 17th century by fishermen who caught salmon from the island. Today you can go through it for a fee.
The coast around Ballintoy is very varied, full of bays, headlands and cliffs. There are also small sandy beaches, such as in White Parrk Bay. They are undeveloped, but on sunny summer days they are visited by many sun-hungry tourists.
