Lake District National Park

The Lake District National Park covers an area of rocky meadows and pastures and lakes. You can find here Windermere, the longest lake in England. There are many walking and cycling paths in the park. At four of the nearly twenty lakes there are water sports centers where you can rent boats, kayaks and sailboats. You can also swim and fish in designated areas. The children's offer includes pony rides, playgrounds and cave tours.

The park was founded in 1951. Special protection here is surrounded by, among others common squirrel, relatively rare in England as opposed to gray squirrel. The last English eagle pair lived within the park. However, since 2004, the female has not been seen anymore, while the male was last seen in 2015. Flora is represented by a small number of species, among which the most important are the many varieties of lichen.
