The villa was built in 1883/85 by the architectural firm Chiodera und Tschudy for Karl Fürchtegott Groba. Currently, the building is one of the most important historic buildings in Zurich. It owes its name to the village that used to be in this place. The Renaissance villa also has a park with swimming pools, fountains and flower beds.
