Botanical Garden of the University of Zurich

The Zurich Botanical Garden is part of the University. About 8,000 plant varieties are cultivated here representing all continents and climatic zones. In addition to scientific work, the garden was open to visitors. There are three greenhouses, three aquariums and a cafe.
The Zurich Botanical Garden was designed by landscape architect Fred Eicher and opened in 1977. Three greenhouses were arranged in different climates. One is used to simulate the tropical climate, the other represents the climate conditions of the subtropics, and the third one - savannah conditions. They grow in them, among others palms, ferns and orchids.
The following biotopes and climate zones are represented here, divided into sections: Mediterranean garden, Wadi with dry climate species, Coloring area with cultural and historical aspects, Spring garden, Alpinum with mountain plants of different continents, Ponds and Utility and medicinal plants.
