The large square is located in the center of the international district of Geneva, opposite the headquarters of the United Nations. The area is famous for its peculiar sculpture depicting a broken legless chair that commemorates the victims of mine disasters. The square is an arena for numerous demonstrations and has the reputation of being a free place to express opinions on various topics.
