Repslagarbanan

Local name: Repslagarbanan

Karlskrona's Repslagarbanan is a historic building from the late 17th century that once housed a rope production plant. It can be visited with a guide. Tourists will see an exhibition of various types of ropes here, they will also be able to learn how they are produced during a special show.

The plant was built on the premises of the naval base in Karlskrona. It is the longest wooden building in Sweden, its length is 300 meters.

In the building, apart from the production hall, there were rooms for storing raw materials for ropes, including hemp. In 2000, the factory was restored and opened to the public, today it is one of the greatest attractions in the area.

At the beginning of the 20th century, the rope production industry was developing very dynamically in Sweden, there were about 100 plants throughout the country.
