Jakriborg

Local name: Jakriborg

Jakriborg is a housing estate in Hjärup, built in the 1990s and mapping the buildings of a medieval Hanseatic city. The winding streets and houses with pointed, steeply sloping roofs and colorful facades are characteristic of the architecture of the then Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands. The project is also a reference to the New urbanism trend.

The main railroad running through the city clearly separates Jakriborg from the rest of Hjärup. For this reason, the estate looks more like an independent town than just a residential district. It is worth visiting especially in December, when there is a Christmas market there.

Jakriborg was founded on the initiative of two brothers, Jan and Krister Berggren. The name of the estate is a combination of the first letters of their names.
