The summer residence of the Elector of Brandenburg, Frederick William I, at the end of the 19th century became the property of the financier and politician Oscar Trapp, and after his death it was transferred to public purposes. Currently, it consists of a large park, a village and town open-air museum and the Fredriksdals Palace open to visitors.
