The church Sebastiana (Iglesia de San Sebastián) is a sixteenth-century church in the center of Madrid. Like the San Luis church, it has been a refuge for people fleeing official persecution for years. In 1969, he was entered on the list of Bien de Interés Cultural cultural monuments.
It is especially worth visiting the chapel of Our Lady of Bethlehem, called the "chapel of architects". It was built in 1693. Francisco Moreno was the director of works and the subsequent reconstruction was managed by Ventura Rodríguez. Both architects are buried here. The chapel is located behind the crystal gate.
During the Spanish Civil War, the church was plundered by Republican forces and then almost completely destroyed by the bombing of nationalist forces. Many valuable works of art were then moved to other places, among others to the monastery of San Jerónimo el Real.
