The church and parish of Nuestra Señora de Covadonga is a Catholic temple erected relatively recently, at the beginning of the 20th century. The Virgin of Covadonga is worshiped here, whose image is in the main altar. It is also worth paying attention to the apse vault, where fragments from the life of Jesus by Pedro de Varzi Roa made in 1947 are presented. It is a simple three-nave church with a tower, whose style refers to the towers of the Basilica de Covadonga in Asturias.
The church was designed by Joaquín María Fernández Menéndez-Valdés. The construction was completed in 1915. The temple, however, did not avoid a fate of war - it was burned in 1936. Reconstruction began in 1947, but lasted quite a long time. The works were completed only in 1953. Formerly a small parish, today has about seventeen thousand faithful.
