Mercado de la Paz is a market located in Madrid's Salamanca district. Its hall dates from the late nineteenth century. You can buy mainly Spanish delicacies, sellers always offer fresh products. Culinary festivals, tastings, workshops and exhibitions are organized here. In addition to food at the market, you can find flower and jewelry stands, as well as a press lounge from around the world.
There are about 70 stands at the market. It is famous for its excellent bakery products and traditional Spanish dishes. Guests can try here, among others famous tortilla de patatas, buy delicious cheese and sausages, seafood and sweets. An offer has also been prepared for lovers of international cuisine, e.g. English fish & chips.
The market hall was established in 1879, which makes it the last building of this type erected in Madrid in the 19th century. It owes its present shape to the reconstruction and revitalization that took place in the 1940s and 1970s.
