Puerta de Europa or the Gate of Europe (another, more colloquial name of this tourist attraction is Torres Kío) are two twin buildings with a height of 114 meters. They are inclined by 15 ° to the ground, giving the impression that they are inclined towards each other or create an open, unfinished arch. They take respectively 11 and 12 place on the list of the highest buildings in the whole of Madrid.
The Gate of Europe was founded in the mid-90s. The skyscrapers were designed by American architects Philip Johnson and John Burgee. Between the leaning towers stands the monument of the right-wing opposition leader of 1936 - José Calvo Sotelo, designed by Carlos Ferreir.
The Puerta de Europa skyscrapers rise above Plaza de Castilla. In the area you will find a small park (el parque del Canal de Isabel II) and the Santiago Bernabeu stadium. The square itself is a popular celebration place for Madrid residents (especially during sports games).
