The Cathedral Church of the Armed Forces, also called the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, is the temple of the former monastery of the Bernardine Sisters. He is considered one of the most beautiful Baroque religious works in Madrid. Despite the damage he suffered during the Spanish Civil War, he kept the structure and decoration intact. Among the works of art worth seeing are several paintings by Luca Giordano, a series of frescoes on the vaults and walls of the work of González Velázquez, as well as the main altar with a painting of St. Bernard and Saint. Benedict by Grzegorz Ferro.
The church was designed by architect Juan Gómez de Mora in 1615, however, work began only in 1671, half a century after the founding of the monastery and was completed in 1744. The interior decoration was made by Andrés Esteban, while the granite facade is the work of Pedro de Ribera. This place is the main church of the Field Ordinariate of Spain.
