Font de Santa Anna in Barcelona is the oldest fountain in the city. Its walls were decorated with colorful glazed ceramic mosaic designed by Josep Aragay. The paintings depict figures of a woman and a man carrying water, images of angels and floral motifs. The coat of arms of Barcelona was placed on the front.
At the beginning of its existence, Font de Santa Anna was called "the font of gentlemen" (font dels senyors), and this is because representatives of the Catalan nobility lived nearby on Carrer de Montcada.
The fountain dates from 1356. Originally it was built in the shape of an octagon, it was not decorated in any way. Because it was at the crossroads, a waterhole for horses was created here. The fountain was completely rebuilt in 1819 and 1918 - this is where decorations come from.
