The Rubio and Lluch gardens are a small green area occupying the patio of a medieval monastery and hospital. It is located near Barcelona's most famous market, La Boqueria. The garden is surrounded by the Gothic walls of the monastery, in the middle a small fountain is beating. Mostly orange trees and flowers grow here.
The former hospital at the monastery operated until 1930. Currently, it houses numerous cultural institutions, including the Catalan Library. There is also an art school nearby. In the garden you can often meet her students who make sketches for paintings or photographs.
The garden is above all a place to relax while exploring the city. There are comfortable, shaded benches. There is peace and quiet despite the location in the very center of the metropolis.
