The Greek Theater is located on the slopes of Montjuic, in one of the themed gardens. It was built in 1929 in connection with the World Exhibition. It was designed on the model of Athenian Epiduro Theater, the Catalan architect Ramon Reventos.
The theater was built in the area of former quarries. It is separated from the rest of the garden by the surrounding rocky slope. Thanks to the transitions you can get to the stands. They rise step by step from the circular stage at the lowest point.
The theater is currently used sporadically. It is primarily a tourist attraction. From mid-June to the end of July, it is one of the arenas of the Theater, Music and Circus Festival Grec de Barcelona taking place in Barcelona.
