Torre de las Aguas del Besos in Barcelona is a high water tower built in 1880. Initially, her task was to supply the city with water. Today it is a monument of industrial architecture and a popular observation point, to which 303 stairs lead. The tower can be visited with a guide.
Torre de las Aguas del Besos was built on behalf of the industrialist Xavier Camps, who was the main founder. It was designed by Pere Falqués. It was supposed to use water flowing near the underground Besos River, it was the name of the building that was taken from it.
The tower was built entirely of brick, its character differed from the style in which water towers were built at that time in Europe. Originally, it was planned to erect a structure with a height of 80 meters, but these plans were not implemented, the tower is 51 meters high.
