Basílica de la Puríssima Concepció and Assumpció de Nostra Senyora (Basilica of the Immaculate Conception and the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary), in other words the Church of the Conception is a historic temple with an interesting history, its present shape is the result of the transfer and reconstruction of the monastery of Santa Maria de Jonqueres. You can see monuments of sacred art, including Fourteenth and fifteenth-century urns placed in cloisters.
The building of the temple is a combination of the monastery of Santa Maria de Jonqueres and the Romanesque-Gothic bell tower of the church of Sant Miquel. Both of these facilities were intended for demolition in connection with the city's expansion plans and the creation of new road networks.
In 1872, the monastery was moved to today's place and the main nave of the church and altar were rebuilt. Seven years later, the bell tower joined him. On February 20, 2009, the temple obtained the title of Minor Basilica. It was given to her by Pope Benedict XVI. It is the eighth minor basilica in the city.
