The Barceloneta market is located in the seaside part of Barcelona. It is a modern building whose shape resembles the rolling sea waves. Inside, there are several stands with fish and seafood, vegetables, bread and dairy products. There is also a supermarket and several restaurants.
The Barceloneta market was covered with a metal hall at the end of the 19th century. However, at the beginning of the 21st century, this structure was already badly damaged. On its basis, the architect Josep Mias Gifre designed the present hall. Its irregularly shaped roof resembles foaming waves.
The market in Barceloneta has been associated with the sea from the very beginning. Nowadays, there are also the most stands with fish and seafood. There are also two highly appreciated fish restaurants.
