VYSOKÉ TATRYSlovakia
Velicka Valley
Local name: Velická dolina
The Wielicka Valley is the smallest of the general valleys in the Slovak Tatras. It is 6 kilometers long, and on its threshold there is the Wielicka Siklawa waterfall. In the valley there is a mountain hotel Dom Śląski. Marked routes lead from it to Stary Smokovec, to the Polish Ridge and to the Tatra Road.
The valley is open to the south-east. The lower part is quite narrow and covered with forest. Above are dwarf rowans and mountain pine. There are several ponds in the valley, of which the largest, Wieliczka Pond is located at an altitude of 1666 m above sea level and has an area of two hectares.
