The gallery is located in an eighteenth-century building, which in the past was the seat of poviat authorities. Established in 1951, it is currently the oldest regional gallery in Slovakia. It has no permanent exhibition - it presents Slovak paintings from the 19th and 20th centuries at temporary exhibitions.
