Witch statue

The Witch Monument is located on the slopes of Castle Hill in Bratislava. It depicts a woman in flimsy robes and loose hair sitting on a stone. She is accompanied by crows. The monument is to remind of witches who were sentenced to drown in the waters of the Danube.

The sculpture was created in the late 1980s. It was designed by Tibor Bartfay. In this way he wanted to pay tribute to all women who were often wrongly accused of witchcraft and died in the Danube currents.
